GCHQ has launched its Christmas puzzles for 2022, presenting UK students aged 11-18 with seven tough challenges that will test their problem-solving skills.
The GCHQ Christmas Challenge is an annual festive quiz designed to test the skills required of the UK's top cyber security minds. The challenge, for children aged 11-18, is based on the Intelligence and Cyber Security category and aims to inspire children to pursue careers in the field.
GCHQ first launched its Christmas puzzle last year, and this December the agency's director, Jeremy Ian Fleming (no relation to the spy novel author, who also worked for British intelligence), asked students around the country asked to record a Christmas message on another festive mission. The tough questions have been sent to UK schools along with a virtual Christmas card with some helpful tips and certificates from successful students.

How can you play GCHQ Christmas Puzzle 2022?
You can download resources for the challenge, including a full list of questions and a page of hints, from the GCHQ website. The challenge officially launched on Wednesday 14 December, and students at the school will be taking part in the challenge during lessons during the day.
Students must find the answers to seven questions in this year's quiz and then, in an extra twist, they must use the design on the front of the cards to collect the answers, creating three different what3words locations - three from those addresses. Show a festival-based answer by adding place names.
